Duquesne University – Power Center
Duquesne’s state-of-the-art 7-story Recreation and Conference Center features 80,000 SF dedicated to recreation and fitness, featuring a wide array of fun and challenging ways to stay fit and well, in a facility designed to deliver higher performance, greater flexibility, and new applications in a cost effective and strategic manner.
The Power Center includes racquet ball courts, two gymnasiums, locker rooms, aerobic studios, fitness center, exercise and dance studios, a bookstore, coffeehouse, offices for the athletics department, a wellness resource center, plus new classrooms and other academic facilities, all media-rich and with a high level of connectivity.
Fulfilling the need for high-level meeting space on campus, the top floor of the Power Center is also a full-featured conference center. Managed separately, it features an impressively flexible large divisible ballroom, configurable in a number of ways, accommodating over 400 for a banquet or 700+ for a lecture. In addition, a prefunction area not only serves as staging for the ballroom, but contains independently configured technology systems, and can operate as a completely independent presentation facility when needed. The entire Conference Center also offers multiple breakout rooms, and the entire facility boasts a high level of finish.
Additionally, The Power Center includes a multiple retail spaces at street level, including the University’s signature restaurant Red Ring. The mixed-use nature of the expansion – commercial and educational – has been effective in increasing the already significant economic impact the University has on the region, estimated at over $300 million annually.
