About Sextant Group / NV5 Engineering & Technology

The Sextant Group is a national independent, technology consulting firm specializing in the planning and design of collaboration, presentation, communication, healing, and entertainment spaces. Architects, interior designers, owners, and facility planners rely on us as technology adviser and consultant because of our intrinsic understanding of how technology, communication and presentation interact. Helping owners explore and articulate their present and future needs, we then enable that dynamic to inform and shape the environment. The result is more effective, efficient, and future-proofed systems and spaces.

A History of Growth

Founded in 1995, The Sextant Group is now recognized across North America as a leading consulting practice focused on technology to support clients’ goals for learning, collaboration, healing and communication. In March 2019, The Sextant Group was acquired by NV5, enhancing the company’s ability to provide clients with a broader range of services from a single entity. Sextant employs over 80 audiovisual, IT, security, acoustic, technical lighting, and healthcare technology professionals in offices and locations across the US.

As we continue to grow, our expertise in emerging and converged technologies has been invaluable for over 2,000 projects across 46 states and 11 countries, spanning higher education, healthcare, corporate/workplace, civic, government, cultural, and sports & recreation.

Best in Class

Sextant Group / NV5 Engineering & Technology is committed to preserving its hard-earned Best in Class reputation. Clients value our experience delivering a technology vision that defines and clarifies presentation, communication, and collaboration goals. Projects both large and small are delivered with the appropriate level of service. Building Information Modeling (BIM) via full Revit capabilities are used in all documentation.

Virtually 100% of key technical personnel hold advanced credentials in their respective disciplines, including audio systems, broadcast technologies, information technologies, acoustics, and project management. These include Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), Certified Technology Specialist – Design (CTS-D), Certified Technology Specialist – Installation (CTS-I), Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED), INCE Board Certified (INCE Bd. Cert), and Project Management Professional (PMP). A formal QA/QC checking and coordination procedure results in highly accurate and well-integrated drawings.

Perhaps most importantly, active engagement and inclusive dialogue with the client and design team ensures project goals are not only met but exceeded.

Sextant Group / NV5 Engineering & Technology is a fiercely independent consulting firm. We do not derive revenue from any representation, manufacture, sale, or installation of any product, and have no ongoing affiliation with any entity that sells or installs Audiovisual, Structured Cabling, IT, Telecom, Security, Lighting, or Acoustical products, or related systems or services. Clients trust us for completely unbiased recommendations based on each project’s unique needs and goals.
