The Sextant Group continues to expand across the US, adding six new team members. Meet our Sextant Six 2018:

Project Consultant Daniel Ayers ETCP. Based in Kansas City, Dan is credentialed as an ETCP-Certified Entertainment Electrician by the Entertainment Services and Technology Association (ESTA), Dan has considerable experience with theatrical lighting systems, presentation, and event technologies. In addition to nearly two decades of production experience with IATSE, he spent several years on university campuses overseeing the presentation technologies and staff for all on campus events and implementing the campus scheduling and digital signage systems, before his skills took him to the University of Kansas Medical Center and Hospital where he was a simulation technologist. Prior to that, he was the Event Technology Manager at the University of Central Missouri where he led a team of eight people and handled technology solutions for over 26,000 events. Dan implemented the campus-wide scheduling system at UCM, then duplicated his efforts for his team at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Senior Consultant Tim Engelhardt. Based in Cincinnati, Tim is an audiovisual, security and communications expert with thirty-eight years of industry experience. In his new role, Tim will manage healthcare, corporate and higher education projects across the country. Prior to joining The Sextant Group, Tim was Vice President of Engineering & Operations for a prominent audiovisual systems integration firm. Previously, he started the Technology Services Group for a large MEPT firm based in Fort Thomas KY, which he led for eighteen years. Tim’s notable clients include The Mayo Clinic, St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Tri Health System, Nationwide Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati, BF Goodrich, Eagle Properties, EW Scripps, Northern Kentucky University, Xavier University, Mercy Health Care, Thomas More College, University of Cincinnati and Mount Saint Joseph University.

Senior Consultant Julie Fischer INCE, LEED AP BD+C. Strengthening our already robust Washington DC office, Julie will handle both acoustical design and project management. She comes to The Sextant Group from a national technology consulting firm where she was head of the Washington DC acoustics practice. Her areas of expertise range from architectural modeling and vibrational analysis to project management and client expansion. Julie’s recent projects include the Smithsonian Institute National Museum of African American History and Culture, NPR Headquarters and the University of Virginia Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center.

Systems Designer Donald Kuhrt.  A Telecom/Security expert with extensive expertise in surveillance, security access, nurse call and telephony systems, Don is now based in the Pittsburgh office. He will work as a Structured Cabling and Security Systems Designer within the firm’s team of security consultants across the US, sharing his deep experience with information security and data protection. Don’s notable clients include UPMC, Heritage Valley Hospital, Pittsburgh Public Schools, Uber Facilities, Washington Jefferson College and Seimens Industries.

Systems Designer Telecom/Security Katherine Lowe RCDD, RTPM, LEED AP.  Kathy will be supporting the Washington DC crew as well as our national cadre of telecom and security systems designers. Her experiences include five years with a regional engineering firm and seven years of on-site management, quality control and safety oversight for electrical, life safety and telecom systems projects for airports such as BWI and Dulles International, plus the Naval Academy and Washington Aqueduct.

Acoustical Consultant/Designer Nicholas Shirley.  Based in Pittsburgh, Nick is a multi-talented engineer and specializes in acoustic simulation of rooms and microphones, Precision microphone measurement techniques, technical reports and data analysis, and customer communication. He brings a strong background in acoustic testing and modeling, and specializes in electroacoustic measurement, MEMS microphone characterization, software development, and 3D modeling and simulation. He will work with our team of acousticians nationwide to perform acoustic tests and measurements.
