PITTSBURGH PA – Mark Valenti, founder and chief executive officer of The Sextant Group, has been inducted into the System Contractor News’ Second Annual Audiovisual Hall of Fame.

Honorees this year include mentors, educators, executives, and industry experts who “define the AV industry,” according to SCN Editor Kirsten Nelson. She whimsically observes that the esteemed select few members of our industry being honored “have demonstrated the rare condition characterized by and extreme intuition of all things mechanical and electrical.”

The magazine cites American Business Journals’ recognition of The Sextant Group as one of Pittsburgh’s Top 40 Best Places to Work, calling it “an admirable commentary on Valenti’s leadership, since his employees nominated the firm without his involvement. While he admits he’s proud of this accomplishment, he also underlines the importance of cultivating team spirit company-wide, not just at headquarters.”

Valenti’s active involvement in the audiovisual industry’s influential trade organization InfoComm International is also cited. Recently-retired Executive Director Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D notes that Valenti’s banking experience helped the organization through a difficult climate. “He brought with him an amazing amount of business knowledge and savvy. This has helped the association prevail, even during challenging economic times,” he said, adding that Valenti’s industry-specific knowledge was also of great value. “I learned a great deal about architects and the building community from him, and will always be grateful for his service to the association and the industry.”
