The WLSC challenge: Create an
all-encompassing 5-year directive and
implementation plan to dramatically
upgrade the entire campus technological
infrastructure. Plan development was
driven by The Sextant Group’s
differentiating holistic approach, which
combines an understanding of the
education process with a communications
technology perspective of the Three S’s: Systems, Services and Spaces. The plan strategically identified the need for certain specialized facilities and features that are essential to creating a technology-infused curriculum and environment.

The scope covered both hardware & software utilization, and spanned the spectrum of communications:
   •  Classroom space design and capability
   •  Distance learning opportunities
   •  Advanced wired and wireless technology
   •  Course management systems
   •  Knowledge management systems
   •  Specialized faculty labs for content development
   •  Student skills development suites
   •  Multimedia production suites
   •  Voice-over-IP phone technologies

The Sextant Group’s proprietary holistic planning approach delivered West Liberty State College a comprehensive master plan outlining goals, objectives, concepts and cost estimates, resulting in recommendations for an organizational restructuring to create the "Cybernetic Campus," President Richard Owen’s vision for the future.
