MICHAEL SHAFER CTS
PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT

Michael Shafer brings over 20 years experience with some of the largest and best-known firms in the audiovisual consulting and integration industry. His demonstrated record of success in design and construction management of converged audiovisual and informational technology systems includes corporate, health care, higher education, exhibition and cultural projects around the world.

Corporate clients and projects include the Far East Headquarters and Corporate Training Center for AIG in Tokyo, and Kuala Lumpur City Center’s Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia (at the time, the tallest buildings in the world). As a consultant, Michael served as audiovisual technology advisor to Merrill Lynch & Co, Inc., in charge of creating global AV and IT standards for corporate properties worldwide. In addition, his designs of Merrill Lynch’s New York Executive Boardroom were honored in 2001 by Presentations Magazine as Grand Prize Winner, Best Boardroom.

In addition to numerous health care projects including Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and Denver’s Children's Hospital at Fitzsimons, Michael lead visioning efforts on an inventive project enabling the digital delivery of oncology tests and biopsies for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York.

Project experience in higher education includes Harvard Business School, Stanford University, and the University of Washington’s William H. Gates Law School.

Conference and exhibit center projects include the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, Rafael Vinoly's David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, and the expansion of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, coordinated with the colony’s transfer of sovereignty to the People’s Republic of China.

In addition, Shafer brings extensive experience with institutional projects such as the American Museum of Natural History, where he oversaw the design of the museum’s renovation of the Oceanography wing, and the New York Public Library with a visionary, paradigm-altering digital training facility for archivists and librarians.

Academic achievements include an MBA in Economics from New York University and a BS in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton, between which he lived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia managing projects for Fortune 100 clients and international architectural firms.
